Mishaul
Communication Assessment Center

The Center for Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) and Assistive Technology
The Mishaul is a unique center for assessment, monitoring and training in the fields of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) and assistive technology. The Mishaul was established in 1980 and has been run by Alin Beit Noam since 2009. The center aims to assist people with complex communication needs to improve their communicative functioning and active social involvement.

The assessment services in the center are available for people of all ages – children and adults – from all over the country with complex speech, language and communication needs. These communication needs may stem from a variety of causes: cerebral palsy, an intellectual disability, a developmental delay due to various syndromes, ASD and PDD, a stroke, a head injury, degenerative diseases, or due to a temporary speech impairment as in the case of people hospitalized in intensive care units. The assessments are carried out at home, in the different frameworks where the people who need the assessment are situated, or in Alin Beit Noam in Kiryat Ono.

The team at The Mishaul consists of senior, highly experienced augmentative and alternative communication and assistive technology professionals. The team members come from varying professional backgrounds, including speech therapy, occupational therapy, physiotherapy and education. The professional diversity and the joint observation help us identify the most suitable solutions for each patient.
